How Can a Chiropractor Help?

At Kamloops Integrated Wellness, we believe in treating the patient as a whole. Your chiropractor will use a combination of treatment styles and methods to meet your individual needs.

Chiropractic Manipulation

It’s not always what you think it is. Chiropractic manipulation involves restoring movement to the joints and surrounding tissues of the body. With balanced and unrestricted range of motion, the body is able to function as it is meant to. This often means less pain and a higher level of day-to-day function. At Kamloops Integrated Wellness, we understand that not all bodies are the same. Our chiropractors will tailor a chiropractic manipulation plan that is suited to your individual needs. Treatment provided by your chiropractor may involve the use of lower force techniques such as drop-style adjusting and the Activator Technique. But chiropractic manipulation isn’t the whole picture, and your chiropractor will make sure you understand all facets of your treatment.

Our chiropractors currently offer chiropractic, Active Release Techniques® (ART®), Graston technique, registered massage therapy and naturopathic medicine. Nestled in the heart of downtown Kamloops, BC, our team is dedicated to helping you achieve your personal health goals through a variety of different therapies.

Soft Tissue Therapy

As muscles move joints it is clear that when treating the joints we need also to address the muscular system. Using effective and functional soft tissue techniques such as Active Release Techniques and Graston Technique the overall outcome of your treatment is improved and your recovery time is lessened.

Functional Rehabilitation

This is often the missing component in a well-rounded care plan. Correction of movement dysfunction through the prescription of specific rehabilitative exercises and stretches is what will keep you moving and feeling your best; after and between your treatments.

Graston Techniques (GT) is an instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization that works to break up scar tissue and adhesions in muscles, tendons and fascia through the application of cross fiber friction. This technique uses specially designed stainless steel tools to both assess and treat the effected tissues.

GT is used to treat a variety of conditions including tissue fibrosis following surgical treatment, tissue adhesions as a result of overuse injuries (tennis elbow, plantar faciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints, ITB syndrome), contracture of soft tissues (frozen shoulder) and many more. GT is especially effective in treating more chronic and stubborn cases of tissue adhesions.

Active Release Technique (ART) is a soft tissue system designed to reduce adhesions between and within muscle fibers, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. By improving the independent movement of these tissues the overall function of the system is enhanced. The process involves manual evaluation and treatment of the effected area with a focused approach to improving function. Your practitioner will provide a required amount of tension to the effected tissues and guide you through a specific range of motion.

ART can be used to treat many conditions including overuse injuries (tennis elbow, shin splints, plantar faciitis), sprains and strains, nerve entrapment conditions, generalized muscle tension, sciatica, whiplash and many more.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or training for your next triathlon, KT tape can be used all over the body to treat a multitude of different injuries.  Some of the most common injuries include low back pain, knee pain, carpal tunnel, shin splints, tennis elbow, rotator cuff tears and plantar fasciitis.

KT tape is light weight, flexible, durable and can provide up to 72 hours of relief per application. It is an excellent option for any athlete as both a preventive measure or during the rehabilitation phase of care. Dr.Hutchins and Dr. Keith both have experience in taping a wide variety of different injuries and conditions.
